Theophilus Amo Asumah (Theo) is a PhD student in Geophysics and Seismology at Michigan Technological University. He earned his BS in Geological Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana and his MS in Geophysical Engineering from Michigan Technological University, where he also received graduate certificates in GIS and Geoinformatics, and in Engineering Sustainability and Resilience. His master’s thesis focused on assessing the geologic hydrogen potential of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, integrating geological and structural data to identify hydrogen-generating lithologies and potential migration pathways. His research interests include seismic studies, reservoir characterization, and the application of these geophysical methods for sustainable subsurface energy resources exploration. Theo has professional experience with the Idaho National Laboratory, the Petroleum Commission of Ghana, and the Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting Ghana Ltd., where he contributed to geothermal energy, oil and gas, and seismic data processing projects. Outside of his academic work, Theophilus enjoys playing basketball and spending time outdoors.
