James Davis is a Ph.D. student at Michigan Technological University (MTU), specializing in quantum optics and metamaterial design. His research has contributed to the miniaturization of optical elements, simplifying linear optical quantum gates using metamaterials. James also applies his expertise in optical systems to enhance and refine laser systems used for atmospheric imaging. In addition to his research, James is dedicated to education, having taught circuit design to over 400 MTU students and educated high school and middle school students in electronics and robotics fundamentals through MTU's Summer Youth Program (SYP). James's commitment to education and fostering the next generation of engineers and scientists is evident in his work both inside and outside of the lab.
